Farm Wife Devotions: Pray For Orlando

FWD - Pray for Orlando

I have been trying to wrap my head around yet another mass shooting on American soil. And I can't. I cannot drum up anything but numbness.

"Thou shalt not kill."

Not, "Thou shalt not kill, except..."

"Thou shalt not kill."

Period. End of discussion.

While the shooter in Orlando was not Christian, there have been quite a few shooters who have been professed Christians, and there are many professed Christians who believe homosexuals don't have a right to life.

No matter what, the Bible says, "Thou shalt not kill."

Why is that so hard?

No matter what your religious or political stance, we need to come together to support the families and friends of the victims and those that survived that horrific night. There is no other appropriately Christian response. Let's not politicize or postulate.

Let's lift each and every person affected by this tragedy up in prayer.  Pray for peace. Pray for strength. Pray that they have faith in His plan. Pray that our leaders can find a way to prevent continued loss of life. Pray that God can turn the hearts of those that are lashing out at their fellow man, causing so much destruction and grief.

Pray for Orlando.

Let us all be lights in the dark, when all other lights go out. Pray for strength, peace, and the ability to live life fully, for the survivors and for the families and friends of the victims.

May God hold them in His hands and comfort them. May they feel His comforting presence.

As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts and how a post has touched your heart! Please feel free to comment below and share the post so that others are encouraged too!

What has been on your mind in light of the Orlando shooting? What is your prayer for those affected by this tragedy?

Laura Tilly hales from SE Wisconsin. She is a wife, mother, caretaker, riding instructor, and horse trainer. She wears many uniforms and loves them all. She grew up on a hobby farm and aspires to have her own farm with her family some day; raising beef, pork, poultry, vegetables, fruit, and being generally self sufficient along with breeding, raising, training, and showing Arabians. Her faith in God helps her get through each day with a sense of peace and a sense of humor. Without that she’d be lost. She look forward with sharing her thoughts with all of her fellow sisters in agriculture and sisters in Christ.
